Halloween Marketing

Halloween is an important time for promotion and marketing. It is important to make the most of the season’s festivities for your company. Here are a few methods companies are using to turn Halloween to their advantage.

1) Themed games

Red Bull have upped their marketing by releasing a Halloween themed add-on for their Kart Fighter 3 game. The game is available on the App Store and on Google Play. The game will have a Halloween update, available for a short time, with a Halloween cart and five new Halloween themed tracks. This method is building on an already-innovative tactic from Red Bull of having their own game on the App Store.

2) Halloween Menu

Having Halloween themed items on your Menu if you run a restaurant or café, or an establishment that wants to gain custom by offering food to the public, is a great idea. No one can say no to a bright orange cupcake, or pumpkin soup for a starter. There are plenty of Halloween themed foods to choose from, from spiced carrots to dyed-green spaghetti. If you run a bar, you can add Halloween themed cocktails to your menu for the Halloween period, such as these.

3) Halloween snacks

Many companies come out with their own Halloween snacks in October, such as Cadbury’s Screme eggs. Many sweets companies come out with special bags of sweets or chocolate bars designed for trick-or-treaters that may come to your door.

4) Decorations

For companies that have an interface with customers (such as shops, cafes, restaurants, banks and so on), decorating your premises for Halloween can be beneficial. The decorations will show that your company pays attention to current events, that you have a fun side, and encourages customers to visit your premises. Having decorations will draw attention to your business that you may not have received without them.

5) Halloween web design

Changing your website for Halloween can help to promote your site. You could, for example, add cobwebs to the corners and turn the cursor into a pumpkin, or something along these lines. This fun addition may draw more traffic to your site.

6) Competitions

Running a Halloween themed competition will help drive up interest in your company. You could, for example, offer a competition for the best Halloween costume, or the best carved pumpkin, or you could challenge your consumers to do something Halloween themed relating to your company, such as carve your logo into a pumpkin. Giving your consumers an incentive to interact with your business will raise your customer base.

7) Halloween Ads

Many companies release their own print ads or television advertisements for Halloween. A classic example of this form of marketing done right is this one from Pepsi. These ads use traditional advertising but utilise Halloween to gain interest.

8) Social Media

Using your companies social media accounts for Halloween promotion can be very useful. You could, for example, send our some spooky tweets, or post costume pictures on your Facebook page, or have a poll discussing the best Halloween sweets or the best Halloween films. Tactics like these will help to keep consumers interested in your brand.

9) Pumpkins!

And finally, of course, you can never have too many pumpkins when it comes to Halloween promotion. Throw in pumpkins wherever you can to boost your visibility as a company.
