Boomerang is an app used to make short videos. These videos are unique as they play backwards and forwards on a loop.

Boomerang is attached to Instagram, and can be accessed from the main Instagram app, though it does need to be downloaded separately. Boomerangs can also be shared via Facebook, or stored on your phone.

There’s just one button in Boomerang – tap it, and it takes a burst of 10 photos in quick succession. It then turns these into a short video, which it plays back and forth on a loop.

Here is what you see when you open Boomerang. The white button, when pressed, take a burst of 10 photos. The arrow icon can be used to switch between front and rear camera on your phone, and the lightning symbol on the top right can turn on the flash.

Once you’ve got your video, this screen pops up, allowing you to share to Instagram, Facebook or elsewhere.
