6th February 2017 / Advertising,Display Advertising / The Creative One

Last night’s Super Bowl ended with the New England Patriots winning 34-28 against the Atlanta Falcons. But forget the scores, what we really care about is the ads! Here are our top ten picks of the Super Bowl ads of 2017. You can check out our previous Super Bowl blogs here and here.

1. Honda CRV – Yearbooks

An ad using clever CGI techniques to allow yearbook photos of celebrities to move and talk. The animation is a little eerie, but very clever.

2. Kia – Hero’s Journey

Melissa McCarthy goes wherever she is needed, with no regard for personal safety.

3. 84 Lumber

An ad deemed too controversial to show in its original form during the Super Bowl, tracking the travels of a Mexican woman and her daughter on their journey to the USA, with clear criticism of President Trump’s proposed wall between the two countries.

4. GNC - Courage to Change

A sweet ad showing people making change in their lives.

5. Bud Light – Ghost Spuds

The ghost of a dog convinces a man to socialise more, in the style of ‘A Christmas Carol’. Yeah, you read that right.

6. Audi – Drive Progress

An advert declaring Audi’s commitment to equal pay.

7. Nintendo – Nintendo Switch

A preview of the features of the upcoming Nintendo Switch console.

8. T Mobile – Bag of Unlimited with Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg

What two celebrities do you think are most likely to spend their time together? Obviously it’s Martha Stewart (a cooking and home décor TV presenter) and Snoop Dogg (a rapper).

9. Go Daddy – The Internet Wants You

A run through of the greatest hits of the internet, including sneezing pandas and Rick Astley’s ‘Never Gonna Give you up’.

10. Buick

A lot goes down at a children’s American football match, including one of the child players turning into Carolina Panthers player Cam Newton.
